Systemic Transformation is  NOW or NEVER!

(Article adapted from the IPC website)

Twenty-five years after the creation of the concept of Food Sovereignty, we have reached a key moment to deepen and widen its principles and concepts, and to invite global movements to articulate an intersectional convergence towards joint proposals for system change.

In 2022, the IPC for Food Sovereignty called for a new edition of the Nyéléni Process, which culminated in the 3rd Nyéléni Global Forum held in Kandy (Sri Lanka) in September 2025. This was a critical and huge undertaking that involved a democratic consultation in regions and territories in which IPC is organized.

We brought together hundreds of thousands of people—peasants, small-scale fishers, Indigenous Peoples, consumers, NGOs and scholars—to discuss and propose solutions and priorities for the next twenty-five years of our collective struggle for food sovereignty.

The outcomes of this global consultation process were presented and finalized at the Nyéléni Forum, where hundreds of delegates from all over the world came together to advance  strategies for just and ecological food systems, health for all, social and  solidarity economies, climate and gender justice, and peoples’ rights.

The gathering relaunched a global alliance capable of counteracting the forces that are pushing the world into a deeper, multidimensional crisis.
